Waiver and Liability Release
This waiver applies to participation in maker space activities, classes, workshops, equipment training, jewelry-making classes, tours, private events, fabrication activities, private maker bays, and any other activity at Geaux Cajun IT.
This page is a general release template. A signed waiver may also be required before participation.
1. Assumption of Risk
I understand that participation in maker space activities, classes, workshops, equipment use, fabrication, jewelry making, printing, woodworking, laser cutting, CNC work, plasma cutting, heat press use, embroidery, and related activities involves risk.
Risks may include, but are not limited to:
- Cuts, burns, scrapes, punctures, or bruises
- Eye injury
- Hearing injury
- Respiratory irritation
- Allergic reactions
- Exposure to dust, smoke, fumes, adhesives, paints, chemicals, heat, sparks, or sharp objects
- Equipment malfunction
- Fire risk
- Falling, slipping, tripping, or lifting injuries
- Damage to personal property
I voluntarily assume these risks.
2. Agreement to Follow Rules
I agree to follow all Geaux Cajun IT rules, safety policies, staff instructions, posted warnings, equipment instructions, class directions, and material-use requirements.
I understand that failure to follow rules may result in removal from the premises, loss of access, cancellation of membership, or denial of service.
3. Equipment Use
I agree not to use equipment unless I have been trained, approved, and authorized to do so. I understand that some equipment may require certification, staff supervision, or separate approval.
4. Materials
I agree to use only approved materials. I understand that using unsafe, unknown, prohibited, or unapproved materials may create serious risk and may damage equipment.
5. Release of Liability
To the fullest extent allowed by law, I release Geaux Cajun IT, its owners, employees, instructors, contractors, vendors, affiliates, landlords, partners, and representatives from claims, damages, losses, injuries, costs, or liabilities arising from my participation, use of the space, use of equipment, attendance at classes, or presence on the premises, except where prohibited by law.
6. Responsibility for Damage
I understand that I may be financially responsible for damage caused by misuse, negligence, unauthorized use, unsafe behavior, failure to follow instructions, or use of unapproved materials.
7. Medical Treatment
In the event of injury or emergency, I authorize Geaux Cajun IT staff to seek emergency assistance. I understand that I am responsible for my own medical expenses.
8. Minors
For participants under 18, a parent or legal guardian must sign or approve participation. The parent or guardian accepts responsibility for the minor’s participation and agrees to these terms on the minor’s behalf.
9. Photo and Video Release
Unless I notify Geaux Cajun IT in writing, I allow Geaux Cajun IT to use photos or videos taken during public classes, events, workshops, tours, or maker space activities for marketing, social media, training, or promotional purposes.
Private projects, confidential business work, and customer-sensitive projects should be discussed with staff in advance.
10. Acknowledgment
By participating in Geaux Cajun IT activities, booking a class, using the maker space, attending an event, renting space, or signing the waiver, I acknowledge that I have read, understood, and agree to this waiver and release.
