Age and Youth Class Policy
Age and Youth Class Policy
Geaux Cajun IT supports youth learning, family maker experiences, STEM activities, school programs, and beginner-friendly workshops. Safety requirements vary by age, equipment, class type, and project.
1. Parent or Guardian Approval
Participants under 18 may require parent or guardian approval, signed waiver, and emergency contact information before participating.
2. Supervision
Minors must be supervised unless enrolled in an approved youth class, camp, workshop, or program with assigned instructors.
Parents or guardians may be required to remain on site depending on the participant’s age and class type.
3. Age Requirements
Some classes may have minimum age requirements. Requirements may vary based on equipment, materials, heat, sharp tools, chemicals, complexity, and safety risk.
General guidance:
- Family craft classes may be open to younger children with adult supervision
- Jewelry-making and beginner craft classes may be available to older children or teens depending on tools used
- Laser, CNC, plasma, woodworking, and equipment certification classes may be restricted to older teens or adults
- Some tools may be adult-only
4. Equipment Restrictions
Minors may not use restricted equipment unless the class, instructor, and safety policy allow it.
Staff may require adult assistance or deny access to certain tools.
5. Behavior Expectations
Youth participants must follow instructions, remain in approved areas, use tools safely, and respect staff, classmates, and the space.
Disruptive or unsafe behavior may result in removal from the class without refund.
6. Drop-Off Policy
Drop-off may only be allowed for approved youth programs. For general classes, workshops, tours, and family events, a parent or guardian may be required to stay.
7. Emergency Contact
A parent or guardian must provide current contact information and be reachable during youth classes or events.
8. Photos and Media
Parents or guardians may opt out of photo or video use for minors by notifying Geaux Cajun IT in writing before the class or event.
